"I tried giving the site a..."
I tried giving the site a chance a few times, though I can’t remember if that was last week or a while back. Either way, it just never really pulled me in. The comments and reader activity felt kind of quiet, like nothing was really happening, and I kept losing interest halfway through articles. I wanted to have a reason to come back, but it didn’t really stick with me.

"Great writing, but the archive feels neglected"
I signed up mainly because I wanted to dig through old Harper’s articles, the archive has been frustrating. The search misses pieces I’m sure are in there, pages can be painfully slow, and every so often it randomly sends me back to the login screen.
When I can actually get to the articles, the writing is excellent, which makes the whole thing even more annoying. If you’re charging people for access, it feels only fair to make the archive easy to use instead of making readers fight with the site just to find what they paid for

"Wanted more depth"
A few essays felt thin to me, just not much literary depth there

"Editing feels kinda sloppy lately"
The editing has felt weak overall lately, tbh. It just seems a bit rushed and not as polished as it used to be imo.

"Kind of fed up with the late deliveries"
I’ve been getting frustrated because my magazine keeps arriving late, sometimes weeks after the issue date. By the time it shows up, I’m already annoyed and not really excited to read it anymore. I reached out to support, but they weren’t much help, which just made the whole thing feel even more irritating.

I found the account settings annoying to deal with. Compared to other apps I’ve used, managing my account here feels less straightforward and takes more effort than it should.

"I wanted to like these essays more, and..."
I wanted to like these essays more, and some of them definitely come across as smart, but a lot of it felt dry. I had a hard time staying interested, i think the writing could have done a better job making the ideas feel more engaging and accessible. If you’re going to put out a collection like this, there needs to be some accountability for keeping the reader connected, not just sounding thoughtful.

"Subscription is getting too pricey"
I still enjoy the reads and think there’s good content here, but the subscription price feels a bit too high now. For what it costs, I’d also expect faster responses when I need help or have a question...

"I subscribed to Harper’s mostly because..."
I subscribed to Harper’s mostly because I wanted the print magazine, but the delivery has been all over the place. The website makes it sound like issues should arrive regularly, so it’s confusing when some show up really late and a couple don’t show up at all.
I reached out to support and got a generic response, but nothing actually improved after that. It’s just frustrating to pay for a subscription and then keep wondering if the magazine is even going to make it to my mailbox. For me, it hasn’t been worth the hassle...

"Helpful site, but support felt like a bait and switch"
I actually like the site and the articles, so I was disappointed when I needed help with my subscription. It kind of had that bait and switch feeling, everything seems smooth when you’re signing up, but once I had a question, customer service took days to get back to me. When they finally replied, it wasn’t rude or anything, just not very helpful, so I had to follow up again. Not a total disaster, but definitely frustrating if you need something handled quickly.

"Solid lefty takes, but it can get a little ridiculous"
I like the essays overall — they’re smart, sharp, and the politics mostly hit for me. That said, it does sometimes go so hard left that I’m like, alright dude, calm down. Still worth reading, even when it gets a bit preachy as hell.

"Feels like I’m the one left sorting out what’s true"
I do find some of the articles interesting, so I still end up reading now and then. But the reporting feels kind of uneven to me, and that makes it hard to fully trust. Some pieces come across more like someone pushing a strong opinion than giving balanced journalism. It’s frustrating because as a reader, I feel like I’m left doing the work of figuring out what’s reliable and what isn’t. I wouldn’t say I avoid it completely, but I definitely don’t take everything there at face value.

I was disappointed. The interviews felt lazy. The questions were flat. They never really went anywhere. Even the answers felt thin. I expected a lot more.

"I’ve had to reset my password twice..."
I’ve had to reset my password twice already, and even after that it still kept kicking me out. On top of that, the reminders feel way too aggressive, like they keep popping up and nagging me before I’ve even had a chance to deal with it. Frustrating experience overall.

"Issue Still Missing and I Felt Strung Along"
My issue never showed up, so I reached out to them more than once. The replies were slow, i never got a real fix. It’s frustrating when you’re paying for a subscription and then have to keep chasing people just to get what you already paid for. After a while, I started worrying I was being fooled or just brushed off. Definitely not a good experience.

"Renewing was way more annoying than it should’ve been"
I tried to renew my Harper’s subscription and, haha, it turned into a whole thing. The site kept sending me back to the login page, and the payment screen froze on me twice. After that, I didn’t get a clear email confirming what happened, so I had no idea if it went through or not. Support took a few days to reply and didn’t really answer my question. it was just way too much hassle for what should’ve been a simple renewal.

"This just wasn’t for me. I..."
This just wasn’t for me. I found it boring and didn’t feel like it was worth the time I spent on it. What made it more frustrating was that there wasn’t any follow-up afterward, so it kind of felt like they didn’t really care about my experience either.

"Not sure the subscription is worth it anymore"
I do like some of the writing on Harper’s, and every now and then there’s an article that really pulls me in. But for what I’m paying, I thought I’d be using it a lot more than I do.
The site itself feels plain, and the whole subscription/paywall setup gets irritating. What really bugs me is that the terms seem to change around in ways that weren’t very clear when I signed up, so it ends up feeling like I’m constantly having to double-check what I’m actually getting.
It’s not a bad publication, and I’m not saying the writing isn’t good. It just feels overpriced for how little I end up reading, so I’m probably going to cancel and just stick to the free articles when I can.

"Kind of feels recycled"
My first reaction was that this doesn’t feel very original anymore. I kept thinking, haven’t I read this exact thing before? Maybe that’s a snap judgment, but it just didn’t grab me.

"Trying to cancel was such a hassle. It..."
Trying to cancel was such a hassle. It felt like they’ve got all these little policy loopholes set up to make it harder than it needs to be, and I kept getting bounced around instead of just being able to end it cleanly. Really annoying experience.
